BIRMINGHAM, AL — A crash involving a vehicle fire Tuesday morning caused major delays on U.S. Route 280 eastbound near the River Ridge shopping mall in southeast Birmingham, according to ALGO Birmingham.

The incident took place on the eastbound lanes of US-280 at milepost 6.6 at Inverness Center Parkway and was first reported by ALGO at 10:08 a.m.
At 11:28 a.m., more than an hour after the original report, the scene was announced cleared.
