News: Car strikes off-duty policeman during funeral service in Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM, AL – A police officer involved in a funeral procession was injured in a hit and run Wednesday afternoon, CBS 42 reports.

At approximately 2:20 p.m. Wednesday, a police officer with the University of Alabama was driving his motorcycle in a funeral procession when a car struck him. The accident took place at the intersection of 65th Street North and 4th Court North. The driver of the car left the scene of the accident. The police officer was hospitalized after the wreck, but is reportedly in stable condition.

The suspect has not yet been taken into custody as the Birmingham Police Department continues to investigate the accident.
