News: Crash in Bessemer fatally injures two women

BESSEMER, AL – Two women were killed this morning as the result of a head-on crash on northbound I-459, CBS 42 reports.

Police say that the fatal collision happened at about 8:30 a.m. ahead of mile marker 6. They believe a 20-year-old woman lost control of her southbound vehicle, crossed the median, and collided with a northbound vehicle driven by a 49-year-old woman.

Both motorists died as a result of the crash, which also brought northbound traffic in the area to a standstill.

Further investigations are ongoing.
