News: Man fatally struck by suspected DUI driver in east Jefferson County
JEFFERSON COUNTY, AL — A 29-year-old man died early Sunday morning after being struck by a car while sitting in the middle of a road near Trussville, according to AL.com.
The incident took place near the intersection of Queenstown Road and Alabama Boulevard at around 3:12 a.m.
Deputies had initially received a report about a man sitting in the road, and then another call moments later from a woman who said her vehicle had hit a person in the road.
Police arrived on scene to discover that the 29-year-old man had succumbed to his injuries after being struck by the woman’s Honda Civic.
A preliminary investigation found the woman had been intoxicated at the time of the crash. She was arrested under a DUI charge, but authorities say other charges are pending with developments in the investigation.
