News: Suspect detained after crashing stolen police car in Montgomery

MONTGOMERY, AL – A man was taken into custody earlier today after stealing a police vehicle and crashing it on I-65, according to WSFA 12.

The suspect escaped police custody at about 1:15 p.m. today and stole a patrol car. He then led authorities on a police chase onto northbound I-65.

The stolen vehicle then veered off of the highway into a nearby ravine. The wreck took place near the 189-mile marker in Pine Level.

It is unknown if the suspect or anyone else was hurt after the accident.

The Montgomery Police Department is looking into the case.
